Partnership is key to ensuring sustainable development and doing more with less.  Today we took a step forward in our mentorship program and we worked with Kehinde Oloriade Mentorship Academy to mentor students of the Baptist Academy, Obanikoro, Lagos.  After the general sessions on Leadership and Career Development. We had a group mentoring session with the kids based on their area of interest and Strength.  The groups were;  ICT and Tech Health and Medicine Business and Entrepreneurship Creative and Engineering.  Each group had at least a mentor to offer Guidance and Counselling.  It was indeed a great one. We were able to promote collaboration between the students and help them have a goal in mind.  We look forward to future partnership.  Thank you Kehinde Oloriade Mentorship Academy (KOMA) for the opportunity.

Career Session with Kings College Boys, Lagos

Image
One of our facilitator "Kayode Alabi" had a questioning and answering sessions with Kings College Boys Lagos, and we will share two of the questions and his responses to them.   A boy asked, I think I am good at many things and have many dreams, how do I choose the one I can do best and focus?  Response: After this session, get a pen and a paper. Write down your dream list, all the thing you want to achieve inclusive those things you are good at.  Write anything you can imagine. Then  now classify the list into group A, B, C.  A should contain the most important  dreams; B should contain second most important while C should be the least important.  After doing this, now go back to the A group and arrange your most important dream in order of priority…1, 2, 3… The dream that come first in the A group is your purpose and that’s what you have to give your all and ensure you achieve it, because it will lead t...

Leadership Talk

Image
Racheal Balogun shared with the students on how they can lead themselves and help others. She said, "the young ones among us are often called ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’. While that is true, another truth is if they do not start leading from today they may never get the chance to lead tomorrow." Leadership is influencing, motivating, guiding and directing people towards achieving a common goal. However, to successfully lead people, you must have led yourself. This brings me to say there are two types of leadership: Self Leadership and People Leadership. Self Leadership is knowing who you are, your values and purpose and then pushing and motivating yourself everyday to achieve that purpose. Self leadership precedes People leadership because it builds capacity in a person to effectively lead others. You must have experienced some private victories with yourself before leading people to achieving success. We all need leadership because it helps us have good lives. Self leaders...
