First Batch of the Career Symposiums and Mentorship Program (Purpose Discovery 2018)

We just concluded the first batch of the career symposiums and mentorship program for over 200 high school students in three Fridays.

Over 130 were reached so far. 

Students between the age of 13 - 19 were reached.


Class: SSS 2 - SSS 3

We shared talks on character building. We taught students on how to create personal code of ethics and develop the right set of values such as integrity, dignity, humility, sustainability...et cetera.



We also talked about leadership and it was inculcated in them that before you can lead others, you have to lead yourself. Nevertheless, you are never too young to lead and make things happen.

We also educate them on Entrepreneurship and the skills to develop to become a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is based on problem solving. Look at your environment and meet a need.



We rounded up the session with group and one on one Counselling session to identify their needs.



Using the survey, there was 99% increase in career awareness.

Reports on the 3 Fridays Career Symposia and Mentorship Program!  Many young people in the African Community find it difficult to discover purpose and forge trajectory for their lives. This geared us towards helping young people to have a goal in mind.  Through one on one coaching, group mentoring and general sessions over 500 high school students were reached.  We cut across all classes from J.S.S 1 - S.S.S 3.  No of students; JSS 1 and 2 = 162 Age range: 8- 16 years JSS 3 and SSS 1= 203 Age Range: 12- 17 years  SSS 2 and SSS 3= 137 Age Range: 13 - 19 years. Whoa! It's a year already. This time last year we were pregnant with this dream. The dream to ensure that Secondary School Students live up to their potential. The dream to ensure that they can connect what they do in the classroom with the practical world. The dream to ensure that students develop life skills that enable them integrate into the labor market. The dream to provide positive role models and mentors to students. And create students who are character conscious and can replicate democracy. The dream to promote a peaceful society and create young and ethical leaders. Project LECT is a mentorship program that helps secondary school students especially those in underserved communities to develop life skills as well as use three pronged approach Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Character Education  to purpose discovery.
